Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black was most represented background in Western Line School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 47.5% of the 1,664 students enrolled in Western Line School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 23.4% decrease from the previous school year.

O'Bannon Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 495 students.

A snapshot of Western Line School District schools showed 47.5% of students were Black, 3.8% were white, 0.7% were multiracial, and 0.6% Hispanic.

Western Line School District roughly covers two schools within Washington County and has a main office in Greenville.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
