Black had the largest percent of student body in West Tallahatchie School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 98.9% of the 554 students enrolled in West Tallahatchie School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

R.H. Bearden Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 280 students.

A snapshot of West Tallahatchie School District schools showed 98.9% of students were Black and 1.1% were multiracial.

West Tallahatchie School District roughly covers two schools within Tallahatchie County and has a main office in Webb.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
