Black had the largest percent of student body in South Delta School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 52.4% of the 618 students enrolled in South Delta School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

South Delta Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 289 students.

A snapshot of South Delta School District schools showed 52.4% of students were Black and 47.6% were multiracial.

South Delta School District roughly covers three schools within Sharkey County and has a main office in Rolling Fork.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
