Black had the largest percent of student body in Humphreys County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 97.2% of the 1,257 students enrolled in Humphreys County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is an 8.9% decrease from the previous school year.

O.M. McNair Middle School had the highest enrollment in the district with 472 students.

A snapshot of Humphreys County School District schools showed 97.2% of students were Black and 0.8% white.

Humphreys County School District roughly covers three schools within Humphreys County and has a main office in Belzoni.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
