2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District students?

Black students made up 92.6% of the 3,978 students enrolled in Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 4.6% decrease from the previous school year.

Greenwood High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 627 students.

A snapshot of Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District schools showed 92.6% of students were Black, 3.7% were Hispanic, and 0.8% white.

Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District roughly covers 12 schools within Leflore County and has a main office in Greenwood.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
