Black had the largest percent of student body in East Tallahatchie Consolidated School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 87.5% of the 905 students enrolled in East Tallahatchie Consolidated School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 2.2% decrease from the previous school year.

Charleston Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 333 students.

A snapshot of East Tallahatchie Consolidated School District schools showed 87.5% of students were Black and 7.7% white.

East Tallahatchie Consolidated School District roughly covers three schools within Tallahatchie County and has a main office in Charleston.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
