What background was most represented in Cleveland School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

Black students made up 71.9% of the 2,877 students enrolled in Cleveland School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 2.3% decrease from the previous school year.

Cleveland Central High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 818 students.

A snapshot of Cleveland School District schools showed 71.9% of students were Black, 20.1% were white, 3.5% were multiracial, and 0.7% Hispanic.

Cleveland School District roughly covers eight schools within Bolivar County and has a main office in Boyle.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
