2021-2022: What were the backgrounds of Leflore County students?

Of the 3,724 students enrolled in Leflore County schools in 2021-2022, 10.5% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Leflore County students.

This is a 9.6% increase over the previous school year.

Bankston Elementary School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2021-2022 school year.

A snapshot of Leflore County schools showed 10.5% students were White.

There are 11 schools in Leflore County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
