What background was most represented in Bolivar County schools in 2020-2021 school year?

Of the 4,129 students enrolled in Bolivar County schools in 2020-2021, 77.5% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Bolivar County students.

This is a 2.6% decrease from the previous school year.

Cleveland Central High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Bolivar County schools showed 77.5% students were Black or African American, 16.1% were White, 2.6% were Two or More Races and 0.4% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are 12 schools in Bolivar County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
