Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black or African American highest represented background in Leflore County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 3,908 students enrolled in Leflore County schools in 2020-2021, 92.9% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Leflore County students.

This is a 1.1% increase over the previous school year.

Greenwood High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Leflore County schools showed 92.9% students were Black or African American, 1.9% were Hispanic or Latino and 0.9% were White.

There are 11 schools in Leflore County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
