Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black or African American highest represented background in Humphreys County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 1,486 students enrolled in Humphreys County schools in 2019-2020, 97.4% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Humphreys County students.

This is a 0.1% increase over the previous school year.

O. M. McNair Upper Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Humphreys County schools showed 97.4% students were Black or African American and 0.7% were White.

There are three schools in Humphreys County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
