On arrival firefighters encountered significant flooding occurring on the west wing of the building. Firefighters proceeded to the attic space and turned off the water supply to that portion of the facility. Due to the occupancy, Sunflower County Emergency Management also responded with a Deputy Director on the initial alarm and later the EMA Director and a second Deputy Director, as well as Sunflower County Emergency Medical Response volunteers. A total of 28 Indywood residents were evacuated, with some being moved to South Sunflower County Hospital, sister personal care facilities or home with families. MedStat EMS and North Sunflower County Medical Center provided transportation support, and North Sunflower Academy made their student van available, but it was not needed.
