Greenville City Council Suspends Parks and Recreation Department
At its Tuesday, June 21, 2022 Regularly Scheduled meeting, the Greenville City Council entered an order suspending the Parks and Recreation Department. The Order reads as follows:
ORDER: Council Order Suspending Immediately the Parks and Recreation Department until such time as an Accounting of Revenues and Expenses Related to the Taste of Soul Culture Fest is Provided to Greenville City Council by the Greenville Park Commission
Statement of Mayor Errick D. Simmons
Mayor and Council are aware of the issues and/or concerns associated with the Taste of Soul Culture Fest. We are conducting an internal review and will report and respond transparently on any actions taken on this matter. It is important for the public to know the Parks and Recreation Department is governed by the Parks Commission. Any and all grievances, complaints, issues, and/or concerns should be directly addressed to the Park Commission at this time.
