86 percent of applicants to Mississippi Valley State University were admitted for fall 2018

At Mississippi Valley State University, 87 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 60 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Itta Bena enrolled 2,285 students in fall 2018, including 1,930 in undergraduate and 355 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

55 percent of undergraduates are residents of Mississippi, and 44 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (91 percent) and white (2 percent).

The school admitted 86 percent of the 2,540 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 17 percent enrolled.
