Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center ranked as Leflore County’s third largest nursing home during the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

During this period, the facility reported 91 beds, which was four below the Leflore County average. The center served an average of 74.1 residents.

The CMS gave Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center an overall rating of 1 out of 5, which is lower than the statewide Mississippi nursing home average of 2.7.

Crystal Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center led as the county’s largest nursing home, offering 100 beds, while Golden Age Nursing Home held second place with 95 beds available.

By the end of the first quarter of 2026, Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center recorded zero fines or penalties.

Two non-profit nursing homes operated within Leflore County, Mississippi, during the period.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that older adults make up a growing share of the national population, while the number of younger Americans declines. Between 2020 and 2024, the U.S. population age 65 and older climbed by 13%, while those under 18 fell 1.7%. The country’s older adult population has experienced substantial growth in the past 100 years, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 report found that nearly half of adults in this group, about 28 million people, are likely to need long-term services and support. Additionally, the report estimates that over one-third will eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
