Mississippi Valley State University announced on Apr. 7 that student-athletes Tom Early and Isreal Ramos have received Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Weekly honors after strong offensive showings in recent games.

These recognitions highlight the athletes’ contributions to the Delta Devils’ successful week in conference play, reflecting their key roles in the team’s performance.

Early was named SWAC Co-Hitter of the Week. He batted .412 over four games, driving in eight runs and recording at least one hit in each contest. His performance included a notable series finale against Alcorn State where he went 2-for-5 with four runs batted in, including a bases-clearing triple. Early also had two multi-hit games, drew two walks, and stole a base during the week.

Ramos earned SWAC Co-Newcomer of the Week honors following his breakout role during Mississippi Valley State’s series win over Alcorn State. In the series opener, he went 3-for-5 with four runs scored, six RBI, and two home runs. Ramos continued to contribute throughout the week with timely hitting and power at the plate.

The university said these weekly honors add momentum as Mississippi Valley State continues its conference schedule.
