The Mississippi Valley State University baseball team lost to Florida A&M 14-8 in the third game of their series, according to an April 19 announcement. The game took place at Moore-Kittles Field in Tallahassee, Florida.

This result is significant as it extends Florida A&M’s winning streak against Mississippi Valley State and reinforces the Rattlers’ dominance in the series since 2011. According to records, Florida A&M now leads the matchup with a record of 23 wins to just two for Mississippi Valley State during this period.

Mississippi Valley took an early lead after scoring three runs in the third inning, making it 5-2. However, large scoring innings by Florida A&M—five runs followed by six more—proved too much for Mississippi Valley to overcome. Chris Soeder led his team offensively by driving in half of its runs through a two-run double, a sacrifice fly, and an RBI groundout. Cody Leming contributed with his first career triple at a four-year institution and drove in two runs while also stealing a base.

Jace Jones pitched effectively out of the bullpen for Mississippi Valley State, throwing 2.2 innings without allowing an earned run and recording five strikeouts out of eight total outs. Tanner Aoki and Tom Early each scored twice with similar offensive lines; Aoki also reached base after being hit by a pitch. Logan Darnell started on the mound for Mississippi Valley and allowed only one earned run over three innings while striking out two batters.

Looking ahead, Mississippi Valley State will travel to Montgomery this weekend for a matchup against Alabama State scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
