The facility reported 140 total beds, six more than the county average for that period. An average of 128.7 residents received care at the location during the quarter.
Cedars Health Center earned an overall rating of 3 out of 5 stars from CMS, better than the statewide average of 2.7 for Mississippi nursing homes.
Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center had the most beds of any Lee County nursing home during the first quarter, with 230. Manhattan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC ranked second, offering 180 beds.
The center reported zero incidents of fines or penalties in the quarter ending March 2026.

U.S. Census Bureau figures show that the population of Americans age 65 and up continues to expand, while younger groups are decreasing. From 2020 to 2024, the population of those over 65 rose 13%, and the under-18 population dropped by 1.7%. Over the past 100 years, the nation’s older population surged from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A study from 2021 estimated nearly half the nation’s older adults—close to 28 million—will require long-term services or support, with over a third likely to need nursing home care at some point.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
