Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was the largest nursing home in Lee County for the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

The facility offered 230 licensed beds, 96 more than the Lee County average for that period. Its census showed a daily average of 200.9 residents in Q1 2026.

The CMS gave Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center an overall rating of 1 out of 5, falling below Mississippi’s nursing home average of 2.7.

Within the same quarter, Manhattan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC was the second-largest in Lee County, providing 180 beds, while Mccomb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC|Cedars Health Center placed third, with 140 beds available.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate the aging of America’s population is ongoing as the younger population shrinks. Between 2020 and 2024, those 65 and older increased by 13%, while the under-18 population declined 1.7%. In the past 100 years, the country’s population of older adults rose from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

Research from 2021 suggests nearly half of people in this age group—about 28 million—will need some type of long-term services and supports, with more than a third expected to require nursing home care at some stage.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
